Uganda’s Olympian cyclist, Charles Kagimu, is focused on leading Uganda’s charge against elite cyclists from around the world at the 2024 Jubilee Live Free Race in Nairobi, Kenya, this Sunday.
Over 50 cyclists, including 10 girls from Uganda, have left for Kenya to compete in the third annual Jubilee Live Free Race, powered by the Grand Nairobi Bike Race.
Cyclists from various Ugandan clubs will join forces with those based in Kenya, led by Kagimu.

Uganda Cycling Association (UCA) president, Sam Muwonge Mahaba, along with members of Jubilee Insurance, flagged off the cyclists at Twekobe Gardens, Bulange.
“The government has always advised sports leaders to seek sponsors because it cannot handle everything alone, and we have started. We need more sponsors to help us develop more athletes for the Olympics and other major events,” noted Muwonge.
Moonlight Cycling Club organised the Ugandan cyclists for the event, which is being hosted by Jubilee Insurance Kenya.

Moonlight Cycling Club president, Ismail Ssebayiga, said the one-day race at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, will see a record participation from Uganda, with 100 cyclists expected to compete.
Uganda will be represented in all six race categories, including the 60 km main race, 12 km family fun ride, the popular 48 km black mamba ride for single-speed bicycles, 2 km kiddies’ race, the 48 km para-cycling race, and the 60 km team race for teams of six riders.
Team captain Brian Ishingyira from Fan Cycling Uganda said they aim to improve on their performance from last year, particularly in terms of their times.
