Uganda Police to host 17th Inter-forces Games

Uganda Police Force has been selected as host for the 2023 Interforce Games.

The games bring together teams from the UPDF, Uganda Police Force, the Prisons Services, and the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

The 17th edition of the games that were launched at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala will start on November 18 to December 1 at two different venues.

The kick-off will be at Kigo Range Ground where the competition starts with shooting from November 20 to 24 before shifting to Kabalya Police Training Barracks and Masindi Stadium from November 25 to December 1.

They are going to compete in football, netball, handball, athletics, taekwondo, volleyball, darts and shooting.

 

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Major General Tumusiime Katsigazi received the national flag as host for the 2023 edition.

UPDF was represented by Col. Deus Tarema who represented the Chief of Staff General Wilson Mbadi, Senior Commissioner of Prisons Frank Baine who represented the commissioner of Prisons Johnson Byabashaija and the director of finance in Uganda Wildlife Authority, Jimmy Mugisa.

Representatives of the forces emphasized that the games are for unity, collaboration, nurturing talent, synergy, fighting non-communicable diseases, and identifying talent.

This year’s theme is fostering wellness and interagency cooperation through sports for a safer and secure Uganda.

Uganda Police is the defending champion that won the 2022 event hosted by UWA at Mweya in western Uganda.
