Uganda Cranes fans urged to drum up support for the team during AFCON

Back home, fans are counting down the days to watch the action unfold on DStv, hoping this new generation of Cranes can soar as high as the legends of 1978, who reached the final in Ghana or even higher.

With a direct ticket to the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, the Uganda Cranes are buzzing with anticipation, ready to leave their imprint on Group C as they face Tunisia, Tanzania, and Nigeria.

Back home, fans are counting down the days to watch the action unfold on DStv, hoping this new generation of Cranes can soar as high as the legends of 1978, who reached the final in Ghana or even higher.

And like they rallied behind the team during CHAN, the fans are expected to exhibit the same energy to the team even without being in Morocco, where the championship is taking place.

That is why, on Thursday, DStv rolled out two promotions to ensure every Ugandan fan can catch all the action as Uganda faces Tunisia, Tanzania, and Nigeria in Morocco.

Speaking to the press, MultiChoice Head of Marketing Collin Mwesigwa, joined by Customer Value Management Head Nelly Mwanda, announced that fans can now grab DStv decoders for just sh25,000 and GoTV decoders for sh19,000, a generous 40% discount from previous prices.

“But also on the packages, where customers can pay. We have said that if you reconnect to DStv access for sh15,000 or sh49,000 monthly, you will have access to all the games, all the way up to the Champions League, which we think is a very good enticement for football lovers and for customers to be able to see all the football,” Mwesigwa said. “That 40% reduction means everyone has access to these devices, and they can get connected as quickly as possible.”

He also revealed that with the Kawiki package, fans can enjoy the tournament for as little as sh15,000 per week on DStv. Plus, DStv has launched an exclusive pop-up channel dedicated to bringing viewers every thrilling moment of the AFCON tournament.

“Those two channels, which are the AFCON pop-up channel 222 and Variety 1, which are hosted exclusively on SuperSport, will, from the 18th of December until the 19th of January, allow customers to watch the UEFA Champions League, to watch the English Premier League, to watch La Liga, to watch Serie A, League One, and the entire AFCON tournament.

Mwanda noted that with the Kawiki package, customers will be able to watch all three of Uganda’s preliminary games from December 23-30. “So please,” we say, “you rally behind the boys during the tournament by showing the same energy during AFCON.  “So this festive season, as you sit with your families in your living rooms, in your bars, please make sure that you switch on channels 222 and 359. Just one weekly package will be happy to entertain you.  So come, let's support our boys. AFCON is ours to take,” she stated.

Throughout the tournament, DStv will spice things up with online promotions and jersey giveaways, each emblazoned with the spirited ‘Zivuge’ rallying call.
