Uganda will compete at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal, the first time the event is held on African soil.

The fourth edition will bring together over 2,700 athletes from around the world across the cities of Dakar, Diamniadio, and the coastal resort of Saly.

Preparations are in their final stages, with chiefs of mission from participating nations having completed inspection visits. They reviewed competition venues, hotels, transport systems, and other operational facilities.

Uganda’s chief of mission, Lydia Dhamuzungu, praised Senegal’s progress, noting that nearly all venues are ready and team relations officials have been introduced to delegations. She added that attention now turns to May 23, the deadline for confirming sport quotas.

The Youth Olympic Games will run from October 29 to November 13, featuring 25 sports. Uganda has selected 11 athletes, six male and five female to compete in cycling, rowing, swimming, athletics, badminton, and table tennis.
