Two Ugandan Frisbee teams are in Kenya for the annual Lake Victoria Grass Ultimate Tournament (LVGUT) at the Kisumu National Polytechnic.

The fifth tournament organised annually by Kisumu Frisbee Club has attracted 20 clubs from the region and is due to be played on June 8 to 9.

Uganda is represented by one of the strongest clubs, Impala FC, and a school team Fort Portal Ultimate Frisbee which is made up of players from Kyebambe Girls School and Nyakasura School.

The two-day event is loaded with high-level Ultimate action and off-field entertainment.

The assistant General Secretary at the National Council of Sports (NCS) in charge of technical matters, David Katende along with the liaison officer for the sport, Annet Nankya flagged off the contingent of the two teams that went by road for the event.

“I thank the school’s leaders for funding the teams of Nyakasura and Kyebambe Girls as we identify new talent that could in the future represent the country in the World Cup. Uganda is recognized in the world today because of sports among other things. Pursue your education and sports because an educated sportsman has bigger potential in the future,” noted Katende.

The chairman for Uganda Ultimate Frisbee, Brian Kaswa who led the delegation of 40 said they want to reap more as Impala FC was the first club to lift the LVGUT in 2016 in Kisumu.
