The 4th edition of the Commissioner General Darts Cup will bring together twenty teams this weekend at the Upper Youth Centre in Luzira Prisons.
The two-day competition, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, will feature men’s and women’s categories contested in singles, doubles, and team formats.
Police Darts Club, the defending champions from four years ago, are determined to retain their crown. Team captain Jackie Ngarambe issued a confident statement ahead of the tournament:
“I’m not sure what will happen in the individual games, but I’m confident we are winning in the team events.”
The challengers include hosts Prisons, UPDF, Gulu Darts Club, Club 291 of Lira, Leisure Tech, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Cancer Institute, Kobs, Pearl, Silver Spring, Kakaira, Lira Town View, and Bank of Uganda.
Prisons team manager Andrew Emomeri assured participants of a well-organized event.
“As organizers, everything is set. We are only waiting for the players to showcase their skills and ability,” he said.
The tournament, sponsored by the Prisons Commissioner General, will feature some of Africa’s top darts talent. Among the standout names are Sarah Makanga of Bank of Uganda, widely regarded as the continent’s leading female player, Job Odoi of UWA, Andrew Ememori of Prisons, Patrick Ochieng of Police, and Isaac Passi of UWA.
With strong teams and star players lined up, this year’s Commissioner General Darts Cup promises thrilling competition and a showcase of Uganda’s growing darts talent.
