Team Shonubi, Musoke & Co. Advocates (SM&Co) returned 135 stable ford points to win the Rotary Club of Kitante Golf Fundraiser in Entebbe on Saturday.
The event that united rotarians and golfers was organized to raise funds for various community service projects in the Kamwokya slum area, including disease prevention and treatment, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, environmental protection, community economic empowerment, water sanitation, conflict prevention, and peace building.
The Rotary Club of Kitante has before supported the KCCA public primary school in Kamwokya with textbooks and also equipped the KCCA Health Center IV with a maternity ward, among other initiatives that include skilling boys in video content creation.
On the same day golfers witnessed the installation of lady golfer Maxi Byenkya as the president-elect of the Rotary Club of Kitante and her board for the Rotary year 2025-2026. She is also one of the trustees for the Entebbe Club.
Team SM&Co comprised Andrew Kibaya, Innocent Kihika, Robbins Mwehaire, and Edward Kabuchu, who returned 41, 36, 30, and 28 points, respectively, to ensure the victory for the team.
“We were committed and dedicated to ensuring the company we represented emerged as winners. We were a bundle of misfits who came together for a specific purpose and represented the legal firm very well.” Kabuchu noted.
Team Pinnacle Security-2, comprised of Ellis Katwebaze (38pts), Moureen Okura (34pts), Johan Kisekulo (30pts), and Arthur Gwaku (29pts) came second, four points short, while the Rotary Club of Kyadondo team came third with 131 points. Stephen Kitamirike (38pts), Joseph Bagabo (36pts), Tony Kisadha (30pts) and Hannington Mpiima (27pts) contributed to the team’s bronze position.
Britam-1, which had Edgar Muzahura, Paul Nsereko, Robert Ejiku, and Sarah Nduhukire, amassed 118 points and finished fourth overall, while Joseph Nkurunziza, Paul Rumanzi, Enock Nuwagaba, and Michael Musiime of team PN Bali finished fifth with 114 points.
Over twenty teams competed in the one-day event, raising over sh20m from the one-day event.
“I feel very happy because we had a successful event with many sponsors; the turnout was good with about 25 teams, and I believe people enjoyed it,” Byenkya stated.
“It was very competitive, but it was a special event for me, and I couldn’t have asked for more. We are going to scale our activities in Kamwokya with the funds, and I would like to thank everyone that has made it here and contributed to the cause,” Byenkya stated.
