Team ‘On the Money’ amassed 111 stableford points to top the first qualifying event of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour event held at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa on Saturday.

The ‘four ball’ comprised Dipak Patel, Nick Snyman, Mathew Nviiri, and Gloria Nanyonga, who contributed 38, 37, 36, and 29 points, respectively, to win with a total of 111 points.

The winners will consequently enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the 2025 KCB East Africa Golf Tour Grand Finale in Kenya in December after they edged the ‘Serena Crocks,’ comprised of Jadu Patel, John Muchiri, Kartic Halai, and Sureh Patel, by five points.

“Everything worked well for each one of us, and especially for me, I had a very good round today. Everything I touched was on the money,” Dipak Patel, who contributed 38 stable ford points for the winning team, said.

The Serena Crocks finished second with 106 points, one point ahead of the ‘Pappy Putters,’ who had two members of last year’s overall winning team, Joseph Cwinyaai and Peace Kabasweka, among their ranks. Cwinyaai contributed 39 points, Michael Koima 39 while Kabasweka and Patrick Tumwine managed 30 and 23 points, respectively, in the event that attracted 120 players. The first and second runners-up teams settled for Victoria Motors and ICEA Lion hampers.

The individual accolades went to Enock Nuwagaba and Florence Namara, who carded 39 and 32 points, respectively, while Brian Ddamba was the best KCB staff player. Josephine Njoroge and Ernest Rukundo, as well as Michael Koima and Judith Komugisha, also got to the podium, walking away with the nearest to the pin and longest drive prizes.

Golfers failed to take the offer of winning a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander for a hole-in-one, as none could match the feat. This year’s event was played under the theme ‘Roar on the Green’ and had an environmental sustainability cause, with the bank planting 300 trees on the Serena course in alignment with their broader commitment of planting at least 15,000 trees around Uganda this year.
