Government urges teso community to embrace the swimming pool construction in TCA
Construction work worth shs 1.5 billion for Teso college Aloet swimming pool has begun and is expected to last for 10 months.
The two in one semi-Olympic standard size facility is earmarked to host the 2024 Federation of East Africa schools’ sports games (FEASSA) which Teso College Aloet bid
Uganda government though the ministry of Education and Sports allocated TCA shs 1.5 billion during the 2020 financial year budget, with the aim of providing a facility which could enable the school to host local, national and internal games. swimming is one of the games in schools, and teso college students have been missing out in this exciting game due to absence of the facility
Rev. Canon Ducan Mugumya, the commissioner Physical Education and Sports PES at the ministry of education and sports MoES says teso is blessed to have state- of- the -art facility will not only be used at domestic level but also at the international level.

According to Mugumuya, the facility shall attract a number of swimmers and guests from all regions locally, nationally, and internationally.
“My plea to teso leaders is that the facility placed in the region should be embraced as it has more economic impact to the entire region and Uganda as a whole. TCA shall soon be able to attract bigger competitions here and these competitions come with a big following nationally and internationally. The teso community shall benefit from athletes, officials and guests
“He reiterated that the leadership in the region should support the school in its bid to improve the facilities so as to be able to attract more guests, competitions and other sporting programs that involve swimming.
Mugumunya passed the massage during his visit to the school on Friday 6th October 2023.
The swimming pool construction works led by UPDF (Army) (Engineering) Bridge commenced on Sep 14th with the official inspection of the location by UPDF Engineering crew lead by Lt. Col Peter Seku Kidemuka the commander in charge Ministry of Education and Sports projects in secondary schools
Kidemuka promised a good job that would ensure that the facility remains among the best in the country
Vincent Oluka Okeriau, the chairperson Association of secondary schools headteachers associations of Teso region ASSHU congratulated the government for awarding teso such wonderful support which has enabled the region to have swimming facilities.
Oluka called upon the UPDF Engineering department to ensure that they provide good materials to avoid repeating the same work in future.
Julius Opaaso, head teacher Teso College Aloet when contacted is optimistic that teso college Aloet will have all the opportunities to host the East Africa secondary schools (FEASSSA) games come 2024.
“If the construction of the swimming pool is completed, our target is to ensure that talents are identified,” he add.
