There was nothing to separate Peyton Mary Suubi and Marie Zara Mbanga from the Jaguar Swim Club in the girls’ 13-14 years category after the Uganda Swimming Federation League Meet-3, at the Rockwood Pool in Bweyogerere on Sunday.
The best female swimmers in that category finished tied with 295 points apiece after the meet with Dolphins Mackayla Ssali (240pts), Theresa Kikambi (208) and Ozpreys Swim Club’s Gabriella Opolot (167) finishing third, fourth and fifth respectively.
The league is run under a point reward system with participating swimmers meeting the minimum qualifying times to participate in the three-legged league. The league is aimed at increasing the athlete’s individual knowledge and exposure to more competitive events.
In the 10 & Under Girls category Aqua Akii’s Adams Aya topped the category with 156 points, five points ahead of Sailfish’s Audrey Nyonyintono and Denorah Natabi who finished with 148. Nyla Musoke of Sailfish finished fourth on 132 points as Vision for Africa’s Blessing Namugga finished with 106.
Jaguars’ Austin Wanyama (159pts) beat Aqua Akii’s Tzion Tamale (140) to the top spot in the same age category where Dolphins’ Maynard Mukisa, Jaguars’ Ashley Kimuli and Black Panthers’ Liam Kirabo Kaweesa finished with 115, 104 and 102 points respectively.
The top three individuals in the 11-12 years girl’s category were Otters’ Nisha Pearl Najjuma who collected 286 points ahead of Siverfin’s Alba Ihunde (241.50pts) and Jaguars’ Ashton Regina Suubi (228pts), while Torpedoes’ Elijah Ayesiga, Sailfish’s Jordan Musoke and Silverfin Academy’s Kristiam Bwisho Mugumya were the top three boys with 305, 218, and 184 points respectively.
Jonathan Kaweesa (316pts), Benjamin Ssali (241) and Elijah Mukisa (236) finished as the top three in the boys’ 13-14, just like Karen Mwangi, Alexis Akol and Vimbai Sasha in the girls’ 15-16 who finished with 259, 238 and 223 points respectively.
The top swimmers in the boys’ 15-16 class were Ethani Ssengooba, Daniel Rukundo, Benjamin Lutaaya, and Emaad Kodet Tumusiime, all from the Gators Swim Club.
In the 17&Over girls’ cluster Jaguars’ Brandy Nakimbugwe collected the most points (226), ahead of Sailfish’s Charlotte Sanford (180) and Silverfin’s Esther Atto (118). Para swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe (112pts) from the Gators and Elisha Kayla Arinda (110pts) of the Silverfin also futured in this category.
Dolphins Malcom Nahamya, Torpedoes Kyle Kimuli and Aqua Akii’s Carlton Musenze were the top three in the same category that featured Sailfish’s Mathew Mwase and Gators Jordan Crighton among the top five.
