Suici Football Club and Buliti Cricket Club have emerged as champions of the Mwiri Soccer League and Cricket League Season 5, respectively, following a thrilling grand finale held on May 31 at the Jinja Rugby Grounds in Jinja City.
The event, organised by a six-man team from the Atletico-Muniga, Kombora, Makaya, and Suici cohorts, marked the conclusion of a season that kicked off in August last year.
The league brought together alumni from over 20 teams in a spirited display of sportsmanship and camaraderie, with Guinness as the official sponsor.
In football, Suici FC clinched the title with 47 points, lifting the coveted main shield, which was presented by Daniel Mushabe, President of the Mwiri Old Boys Association (MOBA). The team also received a UGX 1 million cash prize courtesy of MTN MoMo.
Mbaawo FC came in second position with 45 points, Solida FC in third position with 40 points and Kombora FC in fourth with 37 points.
In Cricket, Buliti Cricket Club took home the cricket trophy and a sh1 million cash prize from MTN’s Momo.

Chris Mwanja the chairman Mwiri League committee said Suici FC’s Almon Wanadi was the league’s Most Valuable Player and best goalkeeper, Salvo FC’s Jenkins Kiiza was Top Player with 5 goals, Solida’s Bernard Mukamba was best defender, Atletico Muniga (best Midfielder) and Bootlicker FC’s Mable Kusasira as best female player.
Samson Kakosi a.k.a Kakosi, the coordinator of the league and also treasurer of the league’s organising committee said teams that participated included Divers FC, Wampa, The great Solida, Salvo, Rugaruga, Mpala, Kombora, Lukambwe (1st season champions), Salci, The great Shadow and Suici FC the season 2 and 5 champions.
Others were Buliti, The great Makaya, Blue Dollar, Mbaawo, Bootlickers, Vuyoz United, Winter and Top Layer among others.

MOBA President Denis Mushabe said the league has grown to become a highlight on the sports and social calendar as it unites old mwirian students.
“I appreciate whoever participated in the league—during my campaign for President MOBA, I promised to bring back the Mwiri league and I think we have brought it back,” Mushabe said, adding that the league had not run for the last two years.
Almon Wanadi, appreciated his team mates for the dedicated time and teamwork that saw them secure victory and emerged champions of the Mwiri League soccer.
