Congolese striker Glodi Beyuku Munsi has pledged to deliver goals and help Vipers win trophies as they push for honours this season.
A recent FUFA decision saw the Venoms lose the Kitara match by forfeiture, followed by back-to-back draws against BUL and NEC, results that cut their lead and reopened the title race.
“I am here to score goals and help the team win trophies. Vipers is a big club with big ambitions, and I want to give my best for the badge,” Beyuku said.
The 23-year-old forward joins the club on a two-year contract running until 2028, arriving from DR Congo top-tier side AS Vita Club.
His signing comes at an important time for the Kitende-based side following Allan Okello’s departure to Tanzanian giants Yanga last month, which left a gap in the attacking department.
Beyuku is excited about starting a new journey in Uganda.
“I am very happy and excited to be here. The technicians should expect hard work, commitment and goals. I am ready for this challenge,” he noted.
He adds fresh firepower to a Vipers side where midfielder Karim Watambala has been the most prolific player in front of goal this season. During the previous campaign in the Congolese top division, Beyuku scored 10 goals.
“The club management trusted me and showed interest. They saw that I can be important to the team. I am here to take my career to a higher level. The club is big and will support my career. It is a pleasure that a club with such ambitions has reached out to me. This is an important step in my career,” he added.
At Kitende, he will compete for a starting place among established forwards, including Yunus Sentamu, Gusto Mulongo, Mark Yallah, Kenneth Kimera, Isaac Ogwang and Milton Karisa.
He is already training with the Venoms in preparation for their Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 clash against FUFA Northern Regional League side Pajule Lions FC on Tuesday, February 23. That could mark his first assignment in Vipers colours.
Meanwhile, Vipers have confirmed the departures of midfielder Moses Waiswa and Angolan attacker Pedro Honjo after their contracts expired. Waiswa is understood to have agreed a two-year deal with URA FC, subject to official confirmation, while Sukuya has joined Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto.
The signing of Beyuku underlines Vipers’ determination to remain competitive in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Earlier in the season, KCCA led the standings before the AFCON break, but a run of seven points from a possible 18 allowed Vipers to finish the first round six points clear.
After 17 matches, Vipers sit top with 38 points. Kitara follow with 36, while SC Villa and UPPC both have 34. KCCA are on 33 points, and Police have 32, meaning only six points separate the top six teams.
