Tunisian football giants Club Africain have officially unveiled Ugandan defender Kenneth Ssemakula as their latest signing, ending intense speculation following his departure from SC Villa in June.

Ssemakula, a former captain of Villa, has committed to a two-year deal with the club, marking his first foray into professional football.

The 24-year-old defender's journey to Club Africain began at Busoga United in the FUFA Juniors League before joining SC Villa in 2021.

During his tenure at the Jogoos, Ssemakula led the team to their 17th Uganda Premier League title last season, defeating NEC on the final day.

His impressive performances earned him a spot in the Uganda Cranes squad, featuring in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria.

Club Africain, founded in 1920, boasts a rich history with 13 league titles and continental success, including the 1991 African Champions League title.

Last season, they finished 6th on the 14-team table in the Tunisia Premier League.

Ssemakula joins a select group of Ugandan footballers who have ventured to Tunisia, aiming to make his mark alongside predecessors such as Jackson Mayanja and Emmanuel Okwi.

Ssemakula's versatility as a midfielder and right-back will bolster Club Africain's defence as they compete in the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1.
