Robinson Opong dropped a team-high 18 points, while 16 points apiece were supplied by Jimmy Enabu and Ishmail Wainwright as the Uganda Silverbacks produced  a hugely-commendable but losing effort  against the Ivory Coast on Saturday in FIBA Africa World Cup Qualifiers.

Ivory Coast had everything in their favour - an arena full of supporters and the unbeaten record - and they were expected to roll over Uganda.

They won the first quarter 27-19 to confirm all pregame predictions. But the Silverbacks, draining a barrage of threes, bounced back to win the  second quarter 31-18 and send tremors through out the Ivorian camp.

But the second half saw a drop off in Uganda's accuracy from long distance and the appearance of a more collected Ivory Coast.

It was enough to swing the game decisively.
