Recent disagreements among SC Villa supporters over the upcoming elections are expected to end after Board of Trustees Chairman Gerald Ssendawula announced a road map leading to the elective assembly next month.

The general meeting will take place on March 1 at 10:00 am at East High Grounds, Kulambiro.

The agenda includes a message from the Chairperson of the Trustees, the President's report on the Club's current state, and the presentation of the election roadmap.

“Fans are urged to renew their Villa Members Trust (VMT) membership and encouraged to keep time,” Ssendawula stated in the notice.

Two months ago, the SC Villa trustees responded to concerns raised by former leaders and fans in the press and various forums about the legitimacy of the current executive, whose term expired in November 2025. They also addressed concerns about the sh3.02b the club received as compensation for its former training ground, Villa Park at Nsambya. The trustees confirmed that the funds are secure in a fixed deposit account and that the account currently earns sh34m in profit each month. Many have also been questioning the legitimacy of the current executive’s tenure, which will all be addressed in the general meeting alongside issues to do with acquiring a permanent home for the club.

But Ssendawula advised the disgruntled members to always exploit the club’s channels before going out in the press. He noted that it is from the club trustees that the club’s executive takes power to perform their duties, and it is in that regard that they extended the club’s elections before the end of next month after the current national political season has ended.

A section of fans was asking for a full accountability of all funds received from the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), detailed and verified membership lists for both the club and VMT since 2021, confirmation of the current CEO and president’s membership status, and a verified list of the board of trustees, among other demands, which Ssendawula said will be addressed soon.

“We realized way back in March that we would not be able to hold elections in November, and we accordingly extended this arrangement to come to the end of March.  First, because we had just started playing in the league, and secondly, we did not want our elections to crash into the politics because we didn’t want the club or its members to drag it into the national politics in any way,” Ssendawula explained.

Ahmed Omar Mandela, the current president, was elected for a four-year term in November 2021. His would-be competitor in the race, Farouk Meyiwa, failed to meet the requirements during the nomination and vetting process to join the race before the Villa Electoral Committee (VEC) declared Mandela the sole candidate.

He took over from William Nkemba, who had served as the interim committee chairman for 3 years. He promised to be a man of action, and the club won their 17th league title during the 2023-2024 season, halting their 20-year national championship drought.

He first served with Senior Vice President in Charge of Finance Daniel Bakaki, Vice President in Charge of Legal and Administration Muhamadi Bazirengedde, Vice President in Charge of Technical Matters Salim Ahmed Semanda, Ben Missaga, Vice President in charge of fan mobilisation and Secretary of the Committee Khasim Nziraguhunga.

In 2023, the club unveiled a new management committee that included Isaac Walukaga, in charge of legal and constitutional affairs; Hajji Salim Ssemanda, vice president, in charge of fan mobilization; Sarah Adong, in charge of women’s affairs; William Nkemba, CEO; and Khasim Nziraguhunga, secretary general. Daniel Bakaki as vice president in charge of finance, Baker Mugaino as vice president of administration, and Sam Mubiru as vice president in charge of technical, who have served to date.
