SC Villa should be thankful to their goalkeeper Maritn Ssenkoto who put up a strong performance to keep them in the game.

Ssenkoto was Villa's rescuer on several occasions in the game and most especially in the second half by pulling several fantastic saves.

The 25-year-old kept out Eric Kambale, Joseph Akandwanaho, and George Ssenkaaba.

The most outstanding save was a fingertip save in the 76th minute with all defenders of Villa beaten, he rose to the occasion and kept out John Byamukama's cross from the head of Kambale.

He was unfortunate to be withdrawn in the 89th minute for Joseph Yiga who came in for penalties.

Having done his part, Villa now showed their quality in the penalty shoot out to eject bitter rivals Express winning 4-3 through Sadam Masereka, Sadam Juma, Nicholas Kabonge, and Amir Kakomo.

Express scored three penalties through Enock Walusimbi, George Ssenkaaba, Arthur Kiggundu but Faisal Ssekyanzi missed, while Kambale saw his comfortably saved by Yiga.

Sports Club Villa will now face Onduparaka in the round of 16 at Greenlight Stadium away in Arua City.

The victory was a relief to head coach Kokourous who is struggling to keep Villa in the topflight with relegation knocking on their door.

For Express, it was a heartbreak and still more pressure mounting on interim head coach James Odoch who has not picked a win in the five games he has been in charge since replacing sacked Wasswa Bbosa.

Elsewhere, BUL eliminated Soltilo Bright Stars 4-3 in penalties after a 2-2 draw away at Kavumba Recreation ground.

The winner of the competition will walk away with sh50m. The runner-up will take home sh25m from sh20m while the semi-finalists will receive sh12m each.

The quarterfinalists will receive sh6m each while the teams that finish in the round of 16 will go home with sh3m each. Those that will reach the round of 32 will earn sh2m each.

Vipers who defeated BUL 8-1 in the final are the reigning champions.

The winners of the Stanbic Uganda Cup also represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup
