Ronald Rugumayo has once again gained membership to the Betway Big Easy Tour competitions for the 2026 season after making the cut in the Theo Manyama Qualifying School tournament played at the Parys Golf & Country Estate & Vaal de Grace Golf Estate in South Africa, March 25-29.
The final stage of Sunshine Tour Qualifying School was played over 90 holes, with a cut after 72 holes to the top 65 players and ties.
After rounds of 66, 67, 73, 74, and 72, Rugumayo qualified with a final score of 8-under 352 in 56th position.
Kenyan Greg Snow also made it with a 15-under 345 in 21st position in the event won by Chilean golfer Agustín Errazuriz with a 26-under 334 over the 90 holes.
Another Ugandan Willy Kitata missed out by five strokes after he returned 1-under 287 in 72 holes in the event that attracted 178 contestants. Rugumayo completed his 2025-26 season on a high by placing 14th in the Betway Big Easy Tour Final at the Waterkloof Golf Club in Pretoria last month.
Early this year he also featured in some Sunshine Tour events failing to make the cut in five, and now gets a chance to compete at the big stage again in South Africa as he continues to gain more experience down south. All players who made the cut received Betway Big Easy Tour membership for the 2026 season. In addition, the Top 50 Transformation players after 72 holes also received Big Easy Tour membership.
The leading 25 players and ties earned Sunshine Tour membership in Category 9 for the 2026/2027 season, subject to the Sunshine Tour Re-Rank Policy as outlined in the General Regulations. “My best moments on the Big Easy Tour were finishing second at Killarney and also finishing in the top 30 on the order of merit having played just 8 events out of 17 events.
On the Sunshine Tour I made most cuts that I have ever made and achieved my best finish, not forgetting having qualified for a co-sanctioned DP Tour event—the Alfred Dunhill Championships,” Rugumayo noted.
