Uganda finished 10th overall in the Commonwealth Rugby 7s tournament after losing 31-5 to England in the placement game.

It was an improvement from the previous performance in Gold Coast where the team finished 12th overall in 2018.

The Rugby Cranes started well taking the halftime 7-5 but they broke down in the second half conceding five more tries to trail 31-5.

Aaron Ofoywroth had scored Uganda’s try in the first half tallying five tries on the tournament scoreboard.

However, Tolbert Onyango's boys put up a spirited fight scoring two more tries courtesy of Timothy Kisiga and Kharim Arinaitwe.

Coach Tolbert Onyango is impressed with the results and told Vision Sport that the great performance of the boys is a good boost to the team as it heads to the next tournament which is the challenger series due August 12-15 in Chile.

Earlier in the day, Uganda saw off Tonga 27-7. Tonga and Jamaica are some of the teams in the Challenger series which is the qualifier for the HSBC World Rugby sevens series.

Uganda's performance on the pitch is a manifestation that Uganda is a much-improved team and the quality of Rugby played made them the crowd’s favorite team.
