The Rotary club of Gayaza also joined thousands of Ugandans who participated in this year’s Cancer Run whose proceeds will go towards the purchase of modern Cancer treatment machines at Nsambya Hospital.
According to Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) for every 100,000 people, there are about 300 new cancer cases registered annually.
The Charter President of Rotary Club of Gayaza, Eng Ivan Watta expressed concern that Uganda loses many peopleto cancer and that many families have had or seen one or two cases of people die due to cancer.
"As a result of that we contribute money every year to ensure that we have significant equipment that can be used in treatment of people suffering from cancer in the country," he said
The vice-president of Rotary Club of Gayaza, Dan Kiguli encouraged the public to support Rotary Foundation in mitigating and treating all types of cancers.
