Following its launch at Kitante yesterday, East Africa's premier amateur golf tournament returns with bigger competition and a continued focus on talent development, reaffirming its commitment to growing the sport, nurturing emerging talent, and creating opportunities for golfers across the region.

Now in its fourth year, the NCBA Golf Series has evolved into East Africa's premier amateur golf tournament, bringing together golfers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda in a competitive circuit that continues to raise the sport's profile across the region.

Speaking at the launch, NCBA Bank Uganda Executive Director Julius Konyani flanked by UGC Chairman of the Board of Directors Paul Nuwagaba, Secretary Emmanuel Wamimbi, Lady Captain Gloria Mbaguta, UGC CEO Farayi Chitengwa, and Pendeza-Uganda Executive Director Christine Walubo said the tournament reflects the bank's broader commitment to investing in communities and creating platforms that empower individuals to achieve their full potential.

"We began this 2026 season with an electrifying start in Kenya, and today we are thrilled to bring the momentum to Uganda, a country that has consistently demonstrated passion for the sport, exceptional talent, and a growing golfing culture," Konyani said.

"The NCBA Golf Series has become much more than a golf tournament. It is a platform that discovers, nurtures, and celebrates talent while promoting values such as focus, resilience, and excellence. Through this series, we are demonstrating our commitment to supporting sports development and creating opportunities that positively impact communities across East Africa."

Nuwagaba welcomed the continued partnership and noted the growing impact of the tournament on Uganda's golfing landscape.

"The NCBA Golf Series has played an important role in elevating competitive amateur golf in Uganda. Beyond providing a high-quality tournament experience, it has created valuable opportunities for emerging golfers to test themselves against top talent and gain regional exposure. We are delighted to once again host this prestigious event," Nuwagaba stated.

This year, as part of the Golf Series, the bank, in partnership with Pendeza Uganda, will also distribute water purifiers to disadvantaged families in Makerere Kivulu to provide access to safe drinking water and reduce waterborne diseases that have affected the community.

Pendeza's executive team lead, Walubo, expressed gratitude to NCBA Bank and the NCBA Golf Series for their generous support. She said 40 families will receive water filters to help them provide safe water and reduce the burden of waterborne diseases.

"What seems like a simple gift will have a lasting impact on the lives of the people that we serve. We are deeply grateful that you have chosen to invest in the community we serve. Your support shows that transformation happens when organizations come together with shared commitment to make a difference," Walubo stated.

Uganda has continued to strengthen its presence in the regional competition. During the 2025 edition, the country recorded its largest-ever representation at the grand finale, with seven golfers qualifying, including junior golfer Gabriel Amani.
