With just eight days to go until the highly anticipated FMU Championship of Champions Sprint on Boxing Day at Extreme Adventure Park in Busiika, seasoned Ugandan rally driver Oscar Ntambi has unveiled a brand-new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.
Ntambi, who graduated to the top-tier National Rally Championship (NRC) two seasons ago from the two-wheel-drive category, has struggled for consistency in recent campaigns.
Persistent mechanical issues with his aging Subaru Impreza N10 saw him fail to complete several of the seven rallies on the national calendar.
On December 18, the 2022 two-wheel-drive champion officially presented his new Mitsubishi Evo X during the launch of the FMU Championship of Champions Sprint at the host venue in Busiika.
Ntambi revealed that the acquisition was made possible through the support of his sponsor, KCB Bank, alongside personal savings and contributions from well-wishers. “I had completely grown tired of the worn-out Subaru Impreza N10. I appreciate everyone who stood with me, and I promise not to disappoint,” he said.
Confident in his new machine, the Forest Rally Team driver declared his intention to make a strong comeback, beginning with the Busiika sprint. He issued a bold warning to rivals, insisting the Evo X must debut with victory.
“At Busiika, it is going to be war. I won’t let any car finish in front of me. I’m using this sprint as preparation for the 2026 season. I want to test myself in a more powerful car and I’m targeting a place among the NRC title contenders,” Ntambi added.
Speaking at the unveiling, KCB Bank Marketing Manager for Brand Experience, Zainab Kalyowa, expressed excitement over Ntambi’s progress and reaffirmed the bank’s continued support.
“We are thrilled to see Ntambi steadily rise through the ranks of the Uganda National Rally Championship. He is known for his assertive driving style, and we pledge to continue supporting him next season,” she said.
Ntambi joins a growing list of experienced drivers upgrading their machinery ahead of the 2026 rally calendar. Hassan Alwi recently unveiled a Ford Fiesta Proto, Umar Dauda acquired a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, while two-wheel-drive competitor Samuel Watendwa introduced a Toyota RunX.
