The Uganda Cranes suffered a tough defeat against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their decisive Group C fixture at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), played Tuesday evening at the Complex Sportif de Fès in Morocco.
Nigeria opened the scoring in the first half, taking a 1–0 lead into the break. The Super Eagles doubled their advantage early in the second half before Uganda’s hopes were further dented when goalkeeper Jamal Salim was shown a straight red card.

Reduced to ten men, the Cranes struggled to contain Nigeria’s relentless attack.
The Super Eagles added a third goal to put the contest beyond reach, but Uganda showed resilience, pulling one back to make it 3–1. Despite the spirited fightback, Nigeria’s dominance was clear, and they comfortably saw out the match.

At full time, the scoreboard read Uganda 1–3 Nigeria, confirming Nigeria’s perfect run in Group C and leaving Uganda’s qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
The result means Nigeria continue their impressive AFCON form, led by star forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, while Uganda have been eliminated from the championship.
