The National Bridge League 2025 is approaching an exhilarating finale, with Ndejje Mavericks 1 maintaining a substantial lead of 206 VPs following their impressive performance during Match Day 3 at Cavendish University.
The second phase of Uganda's top mind sport League will culminate in a decisive Saturday on November 1 at Makereke University's Yusuf Lule Building (CTF), where championships, honors, and sporting history will be determined.
Ndejje Mavericks 1 dominated their competitors on October 25, accumulating 70 Victory Points (VPs) throughout three matches, which featured a commanding 25-5 victory against KU Bridge Club and a solid 21-9 triumph over Muk BC 2.
Although they received an automatic 25 VP advantage due to IUIU's forfeit, this bonus hardly diminished their impressive showing. Their current 52 VP advantage appears nearly insurmountable, requiring only a complete breakdown to be overcome.
In contrast, the current title holders Muk Bridge Club 1 experienced a devastating 0-25 shutout loss to Victoria Bridge Club, dropping them into a tie for second place (154 VPs) with the improving Kampala Bridge Club 2. The absence of the IUIU Aces trio resulted in automatic 25 VP awards for seven teams, which boosted middle-tier standings while highlighting Muk's vulnerabilities.
With six teams separated by just 61 VPs competing for the final two podium positions, each tactical play, bold call, and ambitious contract will carry significant weight. UBF President Linus Wamanya commented, "This demonstrates the growing competitiveness of bridge in Uganda. Young players have enthusiastically adopted the sport, and our data indicates that 99.9% of participants are science students, which underscores the sport's emphasis on analytical thinking and tactical planning. We eagerly anticipate watching how these teams will perform at Makerere this Saturday."
