Following a successful start in Kenya, the NCBA Golf Series officially launched its 2025 season in Uganda this Saturday at the Uganda Golf Club (UGC) in Kitante.
NCBA Bank CEO Mark Muyobo, joined by Crown Beverages’ Aquafina brand manager Grace Namutebi and UGC captain Charles Rukundo, ceremoniously teed off the series.
The tournament will travel across seven other scenic and challenging golf courses throughout Uganda.
This marks the fifth event in the series, with Muyobo emphasizing NCBA’s commitment to growing golf in Uganda, particularly among amateur and junior players.
“At NCBA, we view golf as a catalyst for growth, resilience, and regional development. The sport also nurtures discipline, patience, and focus,” Muyobo said during the launch.
The venues for this season mirror last year’s, including Uganda Golf Club, Jinja Golf Club, Entebbe Golf Club, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, Palm Valley Golf & Country Club, Lugazi Hills and Country Club, and the Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club in Namulonge.
These courses form part of a network of 20 across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda, attracting rising regional talent and elevating the profile of golf in East Africa.
Winners of each of the six events will earn a fully paid trip to compete in the regional final at Nairobi’s Muthaiga Golf Club in November.
Last year’s six winners—Aggrey Mutaka, Judith Mugisha, Brian Omeda, Lillian Koowe, Anselm Olweny, and Berna Musanabera—were joined by 12 Ugandan golfers in the series finale in Nairobi.
Grace Namutebi assured that Crown Beverages will provide hydration services at all tournament events.
UGC captain Charles Rukundo said the course is prepared to welcome around 240 amateur golfers, both men and women, competing in the Stableford format this Saturday.
