Winnie Nanyondo turned in a surprisingly slow performance by her standards.
The result, she dropped out of World Athletics Championships on day one.
Nanyondo finished 12th in the fourth heat of the women's 1500m heats moments ago, with a slow time of 4:10.5.
With the top six from each heat going through to the semifinals, Nanyondo's finishing position immediately underlined just how surprising her performance was for for an athlete of her experience.
Nanyondo is the national record holder in the women's 1500m, and has thrice finished in the top eight at major championships. This time, she won't get anywhere close to that.
