In the end the trio combined for 42 points and the Namuwongo Blazers condemned the Oilers to their first loss of the 2024 National Basketball League campaign yesterday.

Namuwongo outscored the Oilers 24-12 in the fourth quarter on the way to a 60-52 win over the champions that nearly brought the roof down on the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, as Blazers fans basked in the joy of a rare Oilers defeat.

Chuma dropped a game-high 18 points, nailing Jumpers with a kind of proficiency that would have benefited the Uganda Silverbacks in the recently concluded Afrobasket qualifiers.

Chuma would get into foul trouble and spend much of the second half on the bench. Odong and Cheng shouldered the scoring burden in the second half, netting 12 points apiece.

The Oilers came into the game with a 5-0 record and looking nearly invincible. But Steven Nyeko continued his impressive record against the Oilers with a victory that underlined Namuwongo's title credentials.

The Oilers struggled offensively, finishing with two double-digit scorers in Titus Lual (13 points) and Mer Maker (11).
