Uganda 127 Namibia 128/0 (Namibia won by 10 wickets)

The Richelieu Eagles made light work of the Cricket Cranes in their first of the two 50-over games of the Bilateral Castle Lite Series on Tuesday.

Namibia won the toss and sent Uganda to the crease to bat first.

In a surprising turn skipper Brian Masaba walked out to open alongside Ronald Lutaya and it wasn’t long before and he was back in the pavilion after he was caught off the third delivery he faced having scored just one run in sign of things to come.

Lutaya managed 19 off 35, and Kenneth Waiswa who completed the top order scored 42, the most by a Ugandan.

Alpesh Ramjani (23), Dinesh Nakrani (17) and Fred Achelam (14) also managed double digits as the Namibian attack bowled Uganda out in the 38th Over.

Namibia found little resistance in their chase, needing just two batters; Shaun Fouche (48) and Lohan Louwrens (76) to complete the chase with 24.4 overs spare.

Namibia’s Heloa Ya France was named the player of the match for his stellar six-wicket display with the ball.

Bowler Pius Oloka was handed his debut for Uganda and the 19-year-old’s figures of 17 runs conceded from four overs were far from shabby.

After losing 4-0 in the T20 internationals, the Cricket Cranes were hoping for a change of fortunes in the longer version of the game, but Namibia now eying a 5-0 sweep.

The teams will return to action on Thursday for the final 50-over game that will also bring the tour to an end.
