Mutyaba elated for winning Desert Challenge trip to Dubai

“God is great and I think it is his will that I’m picked among the hundreds of entries. I was introduced to their service by my brother and when I started crawling on my own, I continued with them so it is a big chance for me because I don’t think I have ever made the trip to Entebbe Airport, so God is great,”

He has never thought of getting a passport but after being drawn as one of the winners of a fully paid trip to Dubai from the City Oil Dubai Desert Challenge draw, Kamada Mutyaba cannot wait to fly out for the first time.

The taxi driver, whose taxis plie the Mbale-Malaba and Tororo-Palisa routes was one of the three lucky winners and the only one from the taxi category alongside Allen Barozi and Claire Namirimu who all won the trip having serviced their cars at the City Oil Bombo Road Service Station.

The three joined ten others that were picked from the previous draws, from the annual promotion that was reinstated this year having been called off in 2020 due to the rampaging COVID-19 pandemic then.

“I have always asked; why would I need a passport? Maybe going to Mecca; but then I hadn’t taken it as an urgent matter but God has his ways and now I have to get one,” an elated Mutyaba said.

“But I think it is my royalty to the Mandela Group that has been rewarded because I have serviced with them for about 20 years now; since they were still only at Ben Kiwanuka street at GAPCO and when I was still a conductor,” Mutyaba said.

“God is great and I think it is his will that I’m picked among the hundreds of entries. I was introduced to their service by my brother and when I started crawling on my own, I continued with them so it is a big chance for me because I don’t think I have ever made the trip to Entebbe Airport, so God is great,”

Namirimu who also arrived moments after the draw could not hold back her excitement but had to consult someone before she could speak to the media.

Four other winners; Gabriel, Ibrahim, Isaac and Emma won themselves fuel worth sh100,000/-, and free wheel balancing and alignment for their cars.

The winners were drawn by the chairman of the taxi drivers’ association Rashid Ssekindi and USPA president Al-Sayed Lubega from the draw conducted by City Oil marketing manager Herbert Bashaasha, alongside the head of transport and logistics Sadik Jahabar, sales executive Mahad Twaha and sales manager Timothy Kasozi.

Two more draws remain from which six more people will be picked to join the 12 that have already won from previous draws, before they enjoy three days and four nights in Dubai courtesy of City Oil.

You only need to service your car at any of the City Oil outlets to win the trip.
