KCCA FC coach Abdallah Mubiru remains optimistic about his team's ability to improve their finishing, despite their wastefulness in front of goal.

He acknowledges that while they create many chances, converting them remains a challenge.

However, Mubiru is not overly concerned, stating that creating opportunities is the most important part. He believes that with time, the team will sharpen their finishing and score more goals in future matches.

Mubiru shared his thoughts following their 1-0 win over Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Tuesday. Despite the victory, Mubiru acknowledged the team's struggle with converting chances, noting, "It's a big challenge that we waste a lot of chances, but it doesn't worry me. What worries me is if we don't create them."

He emphasized that creating opportunities is key, and expressed confidence that with time, the team will improve their finishing: "We shall continue to try and see that we take them away. It's just a matter of time, we shall be able to score more goals."

Striker Derrick Nsibambi's crucial goal, assisted by Saidi Mayanja, propelled KCCA FC to a 1-0 victory over Bright Stars, moving them to the top of the Uganda Premier League standings with 10 points from four games. This win highlights KCCA's strong start to the season, despite their struggles with converting more chances into goals as noted by coach Mubiru.

The 1-0 victory over Bright Stars not only lifted KCCA FC to the top of the Uganda Premier League standings but also ended a three-match winless streak against Bright Stars away from home. Coach Mubiru praised his players for their determination, stating, "We thank the players for the character and determination they put in to win the match. Bright Stars had turned into a stubborn team, and every time they faced KCCA at Kavumba, they knew they would get a point or points. But this time, we changed that."

Mubiru acknowledged the challenge of facing a team that had consistently performed well against them but was proud of his squad's effort to break that streak.

With the Uganda Premier League set to take a break, four KCCA FC players—Gavin Kizito, Derrick Nsibambi, Saidi Mayanja, and Shafik Kwikiriza—have been called up to the Uganda Cranes squad for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers double-header against South Sudan.

When asked what this selection means for the club, Mubiru attributed it to teamwork and the hard work of the players and the club. "That's the sweat of working hard. It gives us confidence that the number can also increase. We request them to manage themselves well, and this is the starting point. The way we have prepared them, we believe they will continue to be competitive. We are happy for our players and believe they will represent the country well," Mubiru stated, showing pride in their achievement and belief in their potential on the national stage.

The soft-spoken coach also took a moment to praise Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put for selecting a significant number of players from the Uganda Premier League (UPL), with a total of 10 locally based players being summoned for the national team.

"I want to thank the head coach of the national team for considering good players in the league. As coaches, we are happy about it, and it gives us confidence to continue working hard," Mubiru remarked.
His comments reflect the pride and encouragement local coaches feel when their players are recognized at the national level, further motivating them to nurture more talent within the UPL.
