The Woman Member of Parliament for Kiruhura District, Ruth Rujoki Mushabe, has extended financial and material support to Kiruhura Legends FC as part of her efforts to promote sports development, nurture local talent and strengthen community unity.

The legislator donated shs2m, footballs and jerseys to the team ahead of the forthcoming 15th edition of the Mbarara Corporate Club League, which kicks off on February 8 at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara City.

Rujoki said she was delighted to continue supporting the team following their strong showing in last year’s competition, where Kiruhura Legends FC finished third to claim a bronze medal.

“I am proud to once again sponsor the Kiruhura Legends this season. Last year, they won bronze in the Mbarara Corporate League, proving that Kiruhura is rich in talent and potential,” said Rujoki.

She reiterated her commitment to supporting sports initiatives in the district, noting that such platforms play a critical role in guiding young people and opening pathways to professional opportunities.

“These Legends are not just players, they are role models who will inspire and motivate our young athletes, showing them what is possible with dedication and hard work,” she added.

The donation was officially handed over by her husband, Dan Mushabe, to the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Muganga. Mushabe said that the legislator has a deep passion for sports, particularly football, and dreams of seeing players from Kiruhura progress to top clubs and eventually represent the national team, the Uganda Cranes.

“This cause is very close to her heart. She believes that with the right support, Kiruhura can one day produce national team players,” Mushabe said.

Receiving the support, Muganga expressed gratitude to the Rujoki for her consistent backing and pledged improved performance in the upcoming season.

“We have benefited immensely from her support. The team is motivated and determined to do even better this season,” he said.

The Mbarara Corporate Club League brings together teams to compete in various disciplines, including football, volleyball, netball, basketball, cycling, indoor and board games, among others.
