Mbarara Titans continued their dominance over rivals MUSTangs, beating them in the western region league rugby semifinal playoffs.

The highly contested match played at a slippery Mbarara High School grounds on Saturday evening saw the Titans remain unbeaten in all encounters with the MUSTangs.

The MUSTangs were on the back foot early in the game with two tries from Joseph Nahurira. Derrick Barigye and Asa Musinguzi added one try each to break MUSTangs’ resistance.

A try from Joshua Ogwal and a penalty by Emmanuel Ochom proved to be consolations for the MUSTangs rather than the beginnings of a comeback as the match ended 29-8.

“We played well compared to past games and we believe we shall beat them next time. We are going back to the drawing board to prepare for the next competitions now,” said MUSTangs coach Timothy Iraka.

The Titans will now take on Tooro Lions, who qualified without kicking a ball as semifinal opponents Kabale Silverbacks did not turn up in Fort portal.

The final will be played on a date yet to be communicated and the winner will progress to the national playoffs for a chance for promotion to the top flight.
