The Rugby Uganda Cup kicks off on November 26, with top clubs traveling upcountry in the round of sixteen.
The tournament has sixteen teams including 10 core teams and six championship teams including Walukuba, Mbale Elephants, Mbarara Titans, Stallions, Kyambogo, and Boks.
The 10 premiership teams include Heathens, Kobs, Stanbic Black Pirates, Buffaloes, Mongers, Jinja Hippos, Warriors, Rams, and Makerere Impis.
According to the draws held at the Uganda Rugby Union offices on Friday, the opening round will have Rams host Warriors in Makerere, Walukuba hosts Rhinos, while defending champions Kobs visit Mbarara.
Kyambogo will host the Stanbic Black Pirates, Mbale Elephants host Plascon Mongers while Stallions take on the Nile Special 7s winners Jinja Hippos, Makerere Impis host Toyota Buffaloes, and Boks play Heathens.
According to the chief technical officer, Ramsey Olinga, the tournament will take four weeks and will have teams prepare for the Nile Special Rugby Premier League due in January 2023.
“The Uganda Cup will take four weeks and it will help coaches test their players before the league,” Olinga said.
