Rally driver Jas Mangat has not given up all hope of winning this year’s Africa Rally Championship (ARC).

Mangat finished second in the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally, the fifth round of the ARC, to collect 24 points which are crucial to the title quest.

The points kept him in the third position on 87 points, six behind leader and fellow Ugandan Yasin Nasser, with Kenya’s Karan Patel second in the standings after winning the rally in Rwanda.

The three-time national rally champion has vowed to do all it takes in the next event in Zambia, saying he is currently getting to grips with his new car.

“We tried our best in Rwanda. We are now preparing for Zambia, and we will give our best,” the Pili Pili team driver said.

With two events remaining on the calendar — in Zambia and Tanzania — Mangat needs two straight wins to have any chance of winning the championship.
