Mandela returns nomination papers, vows to continue SC Villa revival

Hajj Omar Mandela has officially returned his nomination forms to seek a second term as president of SC Villa, pledging to build on the foundation laid during his first tenure.

Mandela submitted his papers at the club's East High offices in Ntinda on Saturday, vying for the 2026–2030 term.

He was flanked by his proposers, General Secretary Khasim Nziraguhunga and Vice President Administration Baker Mugaino, as he presented the documents to Mr. Brian Kajubi, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

Addressing the gathering after the nomination, Mandela expressed gratitude for the support he has received and called for unity among all stakeholders.

"I am here to continue delivering on the mandate you gave me. We have started the work of restoring SC Villa to its rightful place, and I am asking all Villa supporters and well-wishers to come together and work for the good of the club," Mandela said. "This is not about individuals; it is about the legacy of this great institution."

Mandela's first term has been marked by efforts to stabilize the club both administratively and financially, with the Jogoos seeking to reclaim their dominance in Ugandan football. His return to the ballot box signals a desire to see through the long-term projects initiated over the past four years.

The Electoral Commission is expected to release the final list of cleared candidates in the coming days as the club prepares for the upcoming polls.
