Lady weightlifter Lydia Nakidde has been voted the Nile Special–USPA Sports Personality of February at the member's monthly sitting at the Lugogo Cooper Chimney Restaurant on Monday.

She won a bronze in the clean and jerk event and also in the overall results and is part of the national weightlifting team at the All-Africa Games in Ghana.

Nakidde of Kisugu Unified Gym won 325 votes, beating professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo and the under-17 girls football team ‘The Teens’ who received 245 and 240 votes respectively.

“Winning a medal at the continental feat is paramount especially when it’s on an individual basis,” noted a USPA member Johnson Were.

Commended for February also is rally driver Jas Mangat who won the Mbarara Rally and the national women's badminton team that settled for a silver medal at the Africa Championships in Cairo.

The journalists also voted Brian Ssenyondo, the coach of Kitara FC as the winner of the Plascon Supportive Award with 395 votes against Kobs Rugby Club coach Marshall Tchumcam who got 375.

The two coaches guided their teams to various victories in February.

The Teens U-17 team striker, Agness Nabukenya of Kawempe Muslim also won the Plascon talent award, beating basketball player Brenda Alyano to the award.

Nabukenya scored against Cameroon home and away as they ejected the team on a 3-1 aggregate in the World Cup qualifiers and also struck a goal for her club in the league.
 
Deo Kasozi, the president of Kitara FC walked away with the Sporting Award following his tremendous leadership that has led to Kitara's progress.
