The Korean ambassador to Uganda Park Sung-Soo has hailed the Uganda Taekwondo Federation (UTF), players, and officials for the effort they have rendered in developing the sport over the years.
Speaking at the opening of the 2024 Ambassadors Cup at Lugogo Indoor Arena, the envoy said the tournament was a wonderful platform to showcase Uganda’s love and passion for taekwondo.

“Taekwondo now serves as an art and means of connecting us and bringing us together here in Uganda. Through taekwondo, Koreans and Ugandans are getting much closer and Korea is currently training UPDF soldiers to become instructors,” the ambassador said.

The tournament began with 19 clubs including four from Keny in the two-day event.
Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) tournament, Donald Rukare, IOC member William Blick, UOC secretary Beatrice Ayikoru, Uganda Gymnastics Association president, Harriet Aya, Uganda Archery president Richard Asiimwe, and Uganda Pentathlon Association president, Simon Komakech also attended the opening of the 2024 Ambassadors Cup.
