Roni Kitimbo capped a perfect season by topping the Stanbic Bank Order of Merit standings with 34 points as the season’s mug of mugs competition ended at Kitante on Saturday.
Kitimbo, who won the April mug with 66nett, did not relent in his pursuit of the overall win and still led by the halfway mark.
Rino Kitimbo maintained his lead after the Stanbic halfway quarterly mug competition at the Uganda Golf Club despite being beaten to the Group B top mug on count-back by David Odhiama as the road to Sigona by Finaltus heated up.
Since then, Kitimbo, who plays off handicap 14, maintained his lead up to the November mug competition, beating Brian Manyindo (23pts), Devshi Senghami (22), Alvin Muhimbura (21) and Hannington Mulumba (18pts), who made the top five to the overall spot.

In the ladies’ section, competition for the top spot was highly competitive, but Gloria Mbaguta prevailed, winning the order of merit by 41 points. She was followed by Connie Nshemereirwe, Catherine Wabomba, Berna Musanabera, and Jenina Nasimolo, who made the top five after collecting 38, 37, 36, and 31 points, respectively.
“I had a lovely season. But it involved a lot of hard work, keeping on form, month in, month out. Out of the 11 competitions, I only missed one, so it was all about consistency,” Mbaguta said.
She said she was looking forward to competing on January 3 at Sigona Golf Course in Nairobi, the ultimate prize for the top players, courtesy of corporate finance firm Finaltus, which is sponsoring the top players from the monthly competition.
