Ugandan professional golfer Willy Kitata continued his perfect run on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Tour when he made the cut at the Egypt Golf Series, Address Marassi Resort, Al Marassi Golf Club on Monday.

Kitata carded an overall 3-under 213 in 54 holes to finish joint 17th with Scotland’s David Rudd and Will Porter, Portugal’s Jack Davidson, and France’s Lars Keunen, who all finished with the same score out of the 60 golfers who made the cut.

They each pocketed sh3.9m in the sh351m tournament won by Briton Chris Wood, who carded an overall 13-under 203 to walk away with sh63m.

Since he flew to Europe in search of the MENA Tour card in the MENA Golf Tour Q-School in November, Kitata’s star has been on the rise.

He made the cut at the MENA Golf Tour Q-School at the Troia Golf Championship Course, finishing 27th out of 67 who made the cut, and within the top 50 mark that ensured he qualified to play in more MENA tournaments in Category 3-Q-School Top 50.

After rounds of 70, 70, and 73 at the Address Marassi Resort, Kitata continued his perfect run as he was coming off winning the Sunshine Development Tour Absa Invitational Series at the Thika Greens Resort in Kenya.

Earlier, Kitata also competed in the Rolear Algarve Classic in Portugal, finishing 54th out of 67 who made the cut from a field of 86, at the Amendoeira Golf Resort - O'Connor Jnr. Course in December, where he pocketed $380.

He also made the cut in the PGA Aroeira Challenge in the same country, finishing 43rd out of 63 who made the cut in a field of 83 and walking away with $510.

This means he has earned about Sh17m from his last five events as he continues his grind in even more MENA Tour tournaments.

Elsewhere in South Africa, another Ugandan professional, Ronald Rugumayo, also made the cut on Wednesday, in the first of the Big Easy Tour playoffs at the Modderfontein Golf Club in Johannesburg. Rugumayo carded 143 in 144 holes to ensure he will partake of the sh115m prize money.
