Entebbe golfers Saidi Kirarira and Jovia Tugume emerged as the overall winners of the 2024 MTN Monthly Tee golf tournaments, which ran throughout the year at the Entebbe Golf Club.
Kirarira praised the organisers and sponsors for an event that has significantly improved his skills over time.
“The MTN Monthly Tee golf I play each month has sharpened my game. Last year, I won the Singleton events because of this tournament. I urge the organisers and sponsors to continue supporting talented players to help them excel,” said Kirarira, who also won two of the monthly events.
He amassed a total of 557 strokes across his best eight performances from the year’s 12 events.

Clubmates Richard Oloka and Raymond Ekwamu claimed second and third place with 566 and 568 strokes, respectively.
In the women’s category, Jovia Tugume emerged victorious with 575 points, winning six outings throughout the year. Pamela Tumusiime and Bridget Basiima closely followed in second and third place with 577 and 578 points, respectively.
“It all came down to hard work and consistency. I played every tee and won six events. I encourage more women to participate in the tournament next year,” said Tugume, who is also the women’s captain at Entebbe Golf Club.
The highlight of the day came from Andrew Kibaya, who scored a 68 net and won on a count-back.

The colorful event was graced by MTN CEO Sylvia Mulinge, who presented the top prizes and officially opened the newly constructed MTN Pod at the Entebbe Golf Club course.
The Pod, a state-of-the-art oval structure, provides golfers with a space to relax, enjoy refreshments, and access convenient facilities during play. It also features a VIP lounge on the second floor.
“I thank everyone who contributed to the construction of this beautiful structure,” said Mulinge while commissioning the facility.
