The Africa Golf Confederation (AGC) will host the Africa Region 4 golf tournament at the luxurious Kigali Golf Resort and Villas course, October 2-7.

According to the AGC president Johnson Omollo, seven countries, including Uganda, have confirmed participation in the tournament, which is part of the AGC calendar.

The rest are Rwanda, Kenya Uganda Tanzania, Ethiopia, Seychelles, and Mauritius, to join the event in this region for the first time.

Each country will field a four-man team in the stroke play format event.  Kenya is the defending champions, having edged Uganda in Addis Ababa last year.

Kenya carded 864gross over four rounds to successfully defend the championships in Addis Ababa, having earlier won it in Uganda in 2022. They have won it twice in four years.

Africa was divided into 5 regions to ensure countries in those regions could easily compete among themselves with free and easy mobility in the region.

“We thank Rwanda Golf Union for accepting to host this year's event, which is fully sponsored by Kigali Golf Resort and Villas, a government investment that plans to position golf tourism in Rwanda as one of the best in Africa,” Omollo stated.

“Top on the agenda will be to launch the regional Junior championship for golf sustainability and to enhance players' pathways for future champions. Federation leaders are expected to embrace this new initiative to be rolled out in 2025”.

The future hosts for 2025, 26 and 27 will also be decided on the sidelines of this event. The Africa Golf Confederation chief referee Michael Mahachi from Zimbabwe will referee at this event which is also partly sponsored by the R&A.
