Ugandan professional golfer Marvin Kibirige will be hoping to make amends in the DP World PGTI Open 2026 after missing the cut in the Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club Course in New Delhi, March 12-15.
Kibirige shot 7-over 151 in the opening two rounds to miss the cut alongside 81 others in the sh1.1b prize money event won by Indian pro Saptak Talwar, who shot an overall 10-under 278 to win sh176m.
After making the cut in three consecutive tournaments: the Chhattisgarh Open Golf Championship, the DP World Players Championship 2026 powered by Urbana at the Tollygunge Club and the Professional Golf Tour of India’s (PGTI) DP World Players Championship March 19-22, the Equity Bank-sponsored Kibirige seemed to have settled in after encountering dietary changes and a new professional environment, but he could not replicate his performance in the Indorama championship, missing the cut by 3 strokes.
He now remains 42nd out of 97 players in the Order of Merit Standings with winnings amounting to sh16m from the earlier three events.
Kibirige now has another chance to redeem himself when he competes in the DP World PGTI & Hotelplanner Tour Joint-Sanctioned Hero Indian Open at the DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurugram, Haryana, March 26-March 29, which has a prize fund of sh955m. Joshua Seale, who is also competing under the Ugandan flag in the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) events, also missed the cut alongside Zambian Sydney Wemba, who are the only Africans on the PGTI.
“It wasn’t the performance I was aiming for, but I’m treating it as a strong learning experience. Competing at this level is helping me understand where I need to improve, and I’m motivated to come back stronger in the next events,” Kibirige said after an earlier event.
“I’m settling in gradually. It’s a new environment and a different level of competition, so it takes a little time to fully adjust. But with every tournament, I feel more comfortable and confident."
