Ugandan professional golfer Marvin Kibirige shot a 9-under 129 in 36 holes to make the cut in his first competition, the sh590m prize money Chhattisgarh Open Golf Championship 2026 at the Fairway Golf and Lake Resort, New Raipur, Chhattisgarh in India.

Kibirige recently finished 9th overall in the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Qualifying School 2026 - Final Stage at the Kensville Golf and Country Club in Ahmedabad, earning a full card for the 2026 PGTI season.

He will now bank his first pay-cheque from India’s premier professional golf tour which recently joined the DP World Tour with the global logistics leader becomes the Title Partner and Official Umbrella Partner of the event.

Kibirige opened with a 5-under 64 on the par-69 course, which he followed with a 65 to make the cut in 18th position out of the 51 golfers who will partake of the cash. The event attracted a field of 125 golfers mostly from India and other countries. In the third round Kibirige carded a 2-under 67 to remain within range of the big cash going into the last round of the event on Friday.

Elsewhere, Willy Deus Kitata also continued to grind it out in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) tour having secured the MENA Tour card at the MENA Golf Tour Q-School in Portugal in November. He has since put up strong performances, even winning the Absa Invitational Series Sunshine Development Tour event at the Thika Greens Resort in Kenya last month.

He followed that performance by making the cut at the Egypt Golf Series—Address Marassi Resort—Al Marassi Golf Club on January 26.

He carded an overall 3-under 213 in 54 holes to finish joint 17th with Scotland’s David Rudd and Will Porter, Portugal’s Jack Davidson, and France’s Lars Keunen, who all finished with the same score out of the 60 golfers who made the cut.

They each pocketed sh3.9m from the sh351m tournament won by Briton Chris Wood, who carded an overall 13-under 203 to walk away with sh63m. But Kitata could not maintain his form to make the cut in the Egypt Golf Series at Madinaty Golf Club on Tuesday, despite starting with a level-par 70 that placed him 28th out of 89 contestants after the first round. He followed it with a 76 in the second round to miss the cut that went to the top 63 golfers
