JT Lady Jaguars captain Sarah Ageno led from the front with seven points and 13 rebounds as her side returned to winning ways with a 47-28 victory over KCCA Leopards on February 20, 2026, at YMCA Wandegeya, ending the Leopards’ unbeaten start to the 2026 National Basketball League season.
Sandra Ayikoru Wangeshi also contributed seven points, six rebounds and six assists. Notably, no player scored in double figures, the first such instance this season.
“As the case should be, when you dominate an opponent to that extent, you ought to translate it into points, which wasn’t the case. While the defence was dominant, we finished with only 47 points, shooting 24 percent from the field. We need to improve on that,” Ageno said.
“The win serves as a strong response following our last result against the JKL Dolphins and ends the Leopards’ unbeaten start to the season. We now turn our attention to the next matchup, focused on building consistency and momentum.”
The Jaguars entered the contest determined to bounce back from their loss to JKL Lady Dolphins, while KCCA sought to maintain their perfect record. JT controlled proceedings from the opening quarter, leading 11-5 and extending the advantage to 24-11 at half-time through disciplined defence and dominance on the boards. KCCA managed only six points in the second quarter.
Scoring remained low after the break, with both teams combining for just 17 points in the third quarter. JT maintained control and stretched the lead to 16 points heading into the final period before calmly sealing the win.
KCCA’s 28 points were the lowest scored by any team in a game this season. JT Lady Jaguars also became the first side to win a match this campaign while scoring fewer than 50 points.
Meanwhile, the National Basketball League rescheduled the men’s clash between JT Jaguars and UCU Canons to April 3 to allow Ian Duncan Lubwama to serve national duty in the upcoming FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. The decision was made in consultation with both clubs.
The fixture between KCCA Panthers and Sommet BC was moved to Friday. In that game, KCCA Panthers edged Sommet BC 56-52. Waleed Omar and Oscar Byomuhangi scored 10 points each for KCCA, while Andrew Sendaula led Sommet with 11 points. KCCA registered 15 points from turnovers and 35 bench points to secure the win.
On Saturday (February 21) at ABJA Park, UPDF Lady Tomahawks defeated Angels 63-44. Patricia Cate Nakiru scored eight points for UPDF, while Marion Anyanzwa had eight for Angels.
Victoria She Crocs beat Nabisunsa 58-40, with Nadir Yohanis Susan Peter scoring 16 points and collecting 14 rebounds. Keturah Joy Auma led Nabisunsa with 17 points.
Pearl Queens secured their second consecutive win with a 67-57 victory over Miracle Eaglets. Agatha Kamwada scored 13 points for the Queens.
In the men’s category, Victoria Crocs defeated UPDF Tomahawks 71-63. Martin Janvier Baraka scored 22 points for UPDF, while Akok Peter added 15, but the Crocs held firm to secure victory.
