A lucky golfer will have a chance to win a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series at the second KCB East Africa Golf Tour Tournament, scheduled for June 27 at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa.
To win CFAO's sh400m car, participants must achieve a hole-in-one over the water at Serena's par-3 hole 15. The event will be held under the theme 'Roar on the Green.'
The event, organised in partnership with ICEA LION Insurance, Kenya Airways, CFAO, and Ruby Hospital, aims to deliver a premier regional golfing experience. Building on its inaugural success, the tournament returns with a strong legacy of competitive excellence and community impact.
This year's event will draw over 180 players from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who will compete for a spot in the grand finale in Nairobi, Kenya, this December.
The event was officially set in motion yesterday at a press conference where Noela Byuma, head of marketing and communications at KCB Bank Uganda, unveiled a sh169m cheque for the event.
She said the tournament's theme reflects the confidence and determination required to succeed both on the course and in business. She added that the event provides a unique platform for building relationships, fostering meaningful connections, and bringing together people from diverse backgrounds.
"Today, we see CEOs, young professionals, seasoned players, and customers united by a shared pursuit of excellence on the green," she noted. She said golfers will incur only green fees, with all other expenses covered on the day.
As part of its Go Green campaign, KCB Bank will also plant more trees on the course, aiming to meet its broader environmental target of planting 15,000 trees nationwide to promote regional conservation.
"Golf is a big thing for us because it's an opportunity to engage with some of the sponsors here who are our partners. Through the KCB East Africa Golf Tour, we are not only promoting sport and community but also intentionally investing in a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come through our tree planting initiatives. This tournament embodies the values of excellence, sustainability, and shared prosperity."
Representatives from other partners, Isaac Tegule (CFAO), Anne Njugi and Daniel Kaimi (ICEA Lion), Felix Mwangangi (Kenya Airways), William Mpugu (Serena), and Jamal Alique (Ruby Hospital), also announced their contributions to the one-day event.
Insurance partner ICEA LION Insurance unveiled a sh35m cheque and will showcase its Clubman's Insurance, a specialised cover designed for golfers. The policy provides protection of up to sh4m against loss or damage to golfing equipment and personal effects while playing, practicing, or in transit, as well as coverage for third-party property damage incurred during play.
Kenya Airways serves as the official airline partner and will award the winning four-ball team with air tickets, while Ruby Hospital, which joins as a wellness partner, offered sh5m. The Serena management is running a no-plastic campaign on the course, which they will amplify during the event.
Tournament Coordinator Paul Kaheru noted that the event provides a premier stage for regional pride and endurance. The Stableford format tournament is open to golfers of all ages with a valid handicap, who will compete in four-ball teams. The highest score on each hole counts toward the team total, blending individual skill with collaborative team play.
Last year, Team "On the Money", featuring Gloria Nanyonga, Dipak Patel, Nic Snyman, and Mathew Nviiri secured the overall team title with a stellar 111 Stableford points, while Enoch Nuwagaba (39 points) and Florence Namara (32 points) took the men's and ladies' individual honours. The tournament action will climax with an all-white party for golfers, partners, and guests at the 19th Hole.
