Karan Patel stands among Africa’s most accomplished rally drivers, with three African Rally Championship (ARC) titles underscoring his consistency, pace, and adaptability across varied terrain.

Known for combining high-speed driving with disciplined risk management, Patel continues to deliver competitive performances in demanding conditions.

A key component of his success is his partnership with co-driver Tauseef Khan. An experienced navigator, Khan’s precise pace notes and communication provide the structure needed to execute each stage efficiently. Together, the duo has developed a well-synchronised approach that allows them to respond effectively to changing terrain, weather, and race dynamics.

Patel competes in a Škoda Fabia R5, a car recognised for its reliability, balanced handling, and strong performance across gravel, tarmac, and mixed surfaces. The package has consistently provided the crew with the tools required to compete at the highest level of African rallying.

His record at the Pearl of Africa Rally reflects steady progression and eventual dominance. In 2022, Patel finished 10th overall, gaining valuable experience on Ugandan stages.

He withdrew from the 2023 edition due to challenging road conditions but returned strongly in 2024 to secure his first victory. He successfully defended the title in 2025, confirming his command of the event.

Heading into 2026, Patel is aiming to extend that record with another strong performance as he pursues further success in both the event and the ARC standings.

The 2026 edition is expected to feature stiff competition, including Samman Vohra in a higher-spec machine and Arkif Virani, also competing in a Škoda Fabia R5. The mix of fast-flowing sections and technical stages will demand precision and strategic execution throughout the four-day event, which kicks off on 7th May in Ankole.

With proven experience, a cohesive partnership, and a reliable car, Karan Patel remains a leading contender for top honours at the Pearl of Africa Rally, as he continues to reinforce his position among Africa’s elite rally drivers.
