The organisers of the Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Solidarity Games have confirmed the hosts for the 2027 edition of the competition, following the climax of the 2026 event held at Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale.
"We want to thank the Nkoma SS administration for hosting the games in the best way ever in the history of the solidarity games. Our next move for the 2027 UMEA Solidarity Games will be at Kaddugala SS in Masaka," said Hajji Abubakar S. Kakembo, the Secretary General of UMEA.
The official confirmation was made during the closing ceremony of the 12th edition of the UMEA games, graced by Prince Kassim Nakibinge.
"As a school, we are thrilled to welcome Kaddugala SS for the 2027 UMEA national championship. We are happy that we have been cleared and officially stamped as hosts of the games," said Yahya Ssengabi, the head teacher of Kaddugala SS.
According to Ssengabi, the clearance marks another historic achievement for Masaka City to host such a prestigious event. He added that the achievement is a result of the collective effort of the Masaka Muslim community, as well as the board of governors, the parents' association, and the old students' body.
Habibu Wasswa Kisekka, the organizing secretary of the UMEA Solidarity Games, expressed confidence in Kaddugala's ability to successfully host the championship.
"In a period of six months from now, we shall travel to Kaddugala School to assess its readiness to host the next championship games. This visit will help the association identify areas that need improvement ahead of the competition," Kisekka said.
At the close of the four-day championship, Gombe SS were crowned overall winners with a total of five gold medals, while Kibuli Secondary School finished as runners-up with four gold medals.
Kyaddondo Secondary School emerged as champions of boys' football after edging Masaka Secondary School 1-0 in a closely contested final. Kawempe Muslim extended their dominance in girls' football, securing their seventh title after a 2-0 win over hosts Nkoma Secondary School in the final.
The 2026 games attracted a total of 47 schools, with 122 teams and 1,591 students competing in football, netball, volleyball, handball, table tennis, badminton, scrabble, and chess.
