This Sunday, thousands will gather at Lubiri, Mengo for the 12th edition of the Kabaka's Birthday Run - a dual celebration of His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II's 70th birthday and Uganda's continued fight against HIV/AIDS.

Under this year's theme "Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child," the event highlights the critical role men play in curbing HIV transmission. The run offers 10km and 21km race categories to accommodate all fitness levels, with participation kits available for sh20,000 at Airtel Centers in Wampeewo, New Vision offices in Lugogo, and other outlets.

Airtel Uganda's Managing Director Soumendra Sahu pledged his participation, stating: "I'm honored to join this historic 12th edition and encourage everyone to celebrate Kabaka's birthday through this worthy cause."

Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga emphasized the health benefits during Wednesday's kit distribution at Mengo Palace: "Physical activity maintains healthy bodies and minds for all generations. This run promotes wellness while supporting our community."

M Bank CEO Robin Bairstow reinforced the event's social impact: "The Kabaka Birthday Run unites us in the HIV/AIDS fight through collective action. We're proud to contribute to this meaningful initiative."

The annual run continues to serve as both a cultural celebration and public health campaign, bringing together Ugandans from all walks of life in pursuit of healthier communities.
