Super welterweight Henry ‘Stopper’ Kasujja, the son of Kassim Ouma, is confident of replicating his father’s legacy of clinching a world boxing title after his unanimous points victory over DR Congo’s Reagan Lossa Pocha.

The pair faced off in the wee hours of Sunday, April 14, at Club Obligato in Kampala on the main card of the fight dubbed the ‘Lords of the Ring’, preceded by seven thrilling undercard fights, organised by 12 Sports Round Promotions had seven other thrilling bouts including super lightweight Farahat Manirola’s sensational knock out of DR Congo’s Gael Assumani in the first round.

Kasujja who is currently one of the most promising Ugandans in professional boxing, is determined to win Uganda a world boxing title just like his father Ouma did in 2004 when he clinched the IBF Junior Middleweight title in a unanimous points victory over American Verno Phillips.

“I’m into boxing to repeat what my father has previously done for our country. Like Ouma who is nicknamed The Dream, my dream is to be a world champion just like him,” Kasujja told Vision Sports.

“This victory means a lot to me. It hasn’t been an easy one since the Congolese guy was also a tough one. My message to my fans is I’m here to face anyone, beat the best for me to become the best,” he added.

Now with eight professional fights since debuting on July 23, 2022, Kasujja has only lost once in the ring, a contested split decision result against Shadir Musa Bwogi.

On the same night Kasujja’s 12 Sports Rounds stablemate, super lightweight Farahat Manirola, knocked out another Congolese Gael Assumani in the first round of the super lightweight contest.

Manirola, a former Kololo Boxing Club pugilist, has now won eight fights with five knockouts in his nine professional fights, with his only loss coming at the hands of Isaac Ssebuufu, Olympian David Ssemujju’s sibling.

“Bob Marley once said I won’t feel no pain. I will feel the pain after the fight when I’m tied with my title around my waist. That is what I’m focussed on,” stated Manirola after the fight.

In the day’s other undercards, lightweight Ivan ‘The Ring Emperor’ Kambagire knocked out Abdul Kasozi Kalevu, cruiserweight Saul ‘Mr Bad Intentions’ defeated Tanzania’s Stephen Nyamhanga by a split decision, veteran heavyweight Hudson Muhumuza knocked out DRC’s Manda Katuta, while lightweight Swalik ‘Tyson’ Kisitu knocked out Patrick ‘Dead Body’ Tokema in the second round.
