Mayiga said the kingdom is prioritizing agriculture specifically coffee production, and education particularly the introduction of short courses in technical colleges and universities as dictated by the job market.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has implored government to improve infrastructure leading to and in industrial parks.

The Katikkiro made the remarks during a visit to Kansai Plascon factory in Namanve Industrial Park but was disappointed with the poor road network in the area.

“These industries employ Ugandans and pay taxes to government coffers. Industrial parks should be accorded special attention in terms of infrastructure like roads,” he said.

Accompanied by Buganda Kingdom officials, the Katikkiro was on a visit to strengthen collaboration with the Kansai Plascon Uganda, which renewed its three-year commitment towards the latter’s developmental activities.

“Plascon has been a major partner of the Kingdom for about five years now and with every passing year, our partnership grows from strength to strength. Firstly, it was about the refurbishment of the kingdom structures, then extended to sports, and now with this investment, we shall venture further and beyond,” Mayiga said.

In the health sector, the kingdom plans to introduce technology-based medication and support the ongoing outpatient services departments.

“A while back sports were considered to be only recreational but today no sector boosts Uganda's image than sports, So it only makes sense that as a Kingdom we also pay close attention to sports development which employs many people both directly and indirectly given its wide ecosystem; from the managers to the vendors on match days.

Sports is also a platform of education for the youth where they are taught to embrace virtues such as discipline, commitment, and respect for authority which are key to the growth of an individual and community at large,” Mayiga noted.

The emphasis on sports development aligns with Plascon’s continued surge in sports investment that has seen the brand widening its scope to include; rugby, cricket, netball, and football such as Masaza football tournament, motor sport, and the Uganda Sports Press Association.

It is this commitment to the development of the sector that gave birth to the ongoing brand sports campaign Twaake, a rallying call to all sports fans to actively back their respective teams or clubs.
