Construction of the Hoima Stadium has reached 77%, with major facilities currently being installed.
Once completed, the stadium will be Uganda’s second-largest and is steadily taking shape, with completion expected in December 2025.

Murat Altun, project manager for Turkish construction firm Summa, confirmed that the facility’s construction is at 77%.
Works on the stadium and its surrounding infrastructure are well advanced, with notable progress on the roofing, pavilion, parking yard, outdoor courts, and swimming pool.
Recently, a team from the Local Organising Committee toured the facility, which is located in Kyarwiru, Hoima East Division.
Local leaders in Hoima city have praised both the government and the contractor for delivering the project within record time.
Israel Kabyanga, a local leader in Hoima, noted that since the project's inception, the surrounding community has benefited through employment and service provision.
"The stadium is almost complete, and as leaders, we appreciate the government for this great achievement, and we hope that after its completion, it will change Hoima city," Kabyanga said.

“The project is expected to be completed by December this year,” he added.
Hoima is one of the stadiums Uganda submitted to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), alongside Mandela National Stadium and the Akii-Bua Stadium currently under construction in Lira city.
Hoima City Mayor Brian Kaboyo said during his visit to the stadium in Kyarwiru, Hoima East Division, that they are impressed by the pace of construction.
Progress continues on the outdoor courts and the swimming pool as part of the wider stadium development.
The $129 million multi-sports complex will include a 20,000-seater stadium, a 2,000-seater indoor arena, a semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, a training pitch, and outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball.
Construction is also underway for a parking facility that will accommodate over 1,000 vehicles.

The 20,000-seater stadium is being built ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
“We are impressed that there has been tremendous progress made in such a short time. This project is a testament to the government’s commitment to transform sports infrastructure in Uganda and prepare Hoima city for its pivotal role in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON),” he said.
